Litte Joe by Gail Elliot
Opened by the stunning Yasmin Le Bon who is paying her first ever visit to Australia, to walk exclusively for great friend Gail Elliott’s label, the collection was a lesson in bohemian chic. Figure hugging crotchet, high glamour fringed accessories, low slung belts and breezy maxidresses. I just need to know where those tan suede ankle boots are from…love!
Where is the love??…at Lover’s 10th anniversary showing for RAFW held at the Opera house that’s where!!! Returning to fashion week after a 5 year sabbatical, Lover nailed it with a collection so suprisingly mature and elegant , yet with that distinctive edge one still expects of the label. The colour palette was awash with nudes, white, black and red. It featured beautiful sheer blouses, billowing dresses and tailoring that just oozed sensual sophistication.
Move over Alex Perry…ok, maybe not quite yet but there is a serious contender biting at his heels to be the first name to pass everyones lips when getting red carpet ready. Although not my favourite collection of Gilbert’s to date, there were plenty of beautiful embellished and bubble hemmed dresses that are sure to be snapped up on net-a-porter!
Rachel is still basking in the publicity of Princess Beatrice stealing the show at the Queen’s gala dinner (as part of the Royal wedding festivities) in one of my favourite Gilbert designs, the ‘Zara’ dress.
